Writing words for the Web

Did you know that people read text on the Web differently than they do in print? For instance, most people scan Web pages in an F-Pattern, from left to right at the top and then down the left hand side.

There are other differences too. Words on the Web need to draw the reader in right away. Nobody reads all of the text on a website, so you need to keep the text short. Plus, you need to provide visitors with clear signposts so they can get the information they need quickly. Take a look at the homepage of this website, and you'll see what I mean.

So don't just dump pre-written words from a document onto your website. Use a copywriter with website experience, who knows what they are doing.
